Craft fun!
As I mentioned earlier, we had some craft fun at the lake. We made a stepping stone of Reef's feet (his hands are still SOOOO busy when he's awake, we decided to do his feet this first time.) and then we made some cute hand and foot prints for these cute frames from Target. It was a hilarious process as we waited until he was asleep to get his hands...He didn't seem to mind at all. The stone has added glass squares as well, so this picture is not quite the final product. I can't wait to buy more concrete and make more! If you've never made one, it's a fun project to do, just make sure you wash your hands and feet and whatever else the concrete comes in contact with, otherwise (as I'd been informed on both the directions and from the menfolk at the campsite) you'll get some burns!

First camping trip!
Friday evening we arrived to the Rohrs' campsite #80 at Branched Oak and unloaded our things. Reef was almost ready for bed, but needed to check things out first. He usually falls asleep around 8, but decided to stay awake for another hour because of his new surroundings. Reef and I bunked together on the queen bed, Jared (pictured with Reef and Enzo) slept on the couch area, Cyndi- her usual futon couch, and Rick- the back full size bed. It turned out to be just right for us. Reef still slept his amazing 10-12 hour nights, so we all got great sleep.
My boys
Saturday we went into Lincoln for the football game so we only enjoyed the campsite for a few morning/afternoon hours.
Sunday was a hot one so we stayed inside most of the day until the sun started going down. We did some craft projects as you will see on a future blog and friends Art & Steph came out to join in the fun. We had delicious steaks for supper and enjoyed the beautiful evening.
The weekend seems to go even faster when you're camping, but it's always a good time. I can't wait until Reef is older so we can really enjoy everything about camping!

a few cute photos
This is one of my favorites taken at Grammy and Grampy Rohrs'. I just love how they snuggle in!
Reef loves to be naked!!! This was taken at Horseshoe Lake where great aunt Di/uncle Ken's camper is parked. We were going to swim in a little pool they have, but the water was too cold!
Here's one at Grammy's house. Doesn't he just look so peaceful? Adorable!

The State Fair
We went to the fair today. It was absolutely gorgeous outside, so we had a wonderful day. Grammy and Grampy Rohrs, Reef and I all came together and met up with my mom and her singing group, The Kramer Sisters, for lunch. Cousin Jen and her 2 kids, Scoie and Cooper also met up with us during lunch. The Kramer Sisters sang at 3 in the Expo building, so we had a few hours to walk around and see what we could buy that was on a stick this year. I think pizza on a stick topped my list! Oh, yeah, that and the Hot Beef Sundae!!! Doesn't that sound yummy! Rick asked if he could get chocolate sauce on the beef sundae, otherwise, it wasn't a sundae...typical Ricky Rohrs comment! Reef loved hearing his grandma Mundt sing, and started singing(babbling) along during the show. Great Grandma Becwar loved seeing her great grandkids and listening to her daughters group sing. We were disappointed in the Devaney Center's booths as it was mostly "crap" we didn't need! All in all, it was a pretty good afternoon.

Sleeping wonder
So the past couple nights have been even more awesome than the past couple weeks. Reef has been a good sleeper for awhile, sleeping 7-8 hours at a stretch, eating, then sleeping for 3-4 more hours. Well, let me tell you about the past couple nights. Wednesday night he slept from 7:45pm-6:15am without any interruptions! Then Thursday night he slept for 8 hours straight and last night he slept from 9pm-8am. I am not kidding!!! Both nights he slept for more than 8 hours I woke up and had to check him, and lo and behold, he was sucking his thumb and sleeping away. How did I get so lucky??? I have NOOOOO idea. I am just very thankful and blessed. Sorry I can't share my secrets, because I really don't have any! Hopefully this will continue for a long, LONG time. :)

New girlfriend!!!
Reef met his newest girlfriend, Claire Timperley and already they have slept together!!! (ok, so they slept in their car seats right by each other.) We are glad to have Dr. Eric, Erica, and Claire back in NE and we welcomed them home by looking at their house with all the boxes and leaving for lunch. BIG HELP, huh?!?!? The house is cute and I can't wait to see it all put together. I'm sure it will be REAL EASY with a 5 month old.
Claire 5 months, Reef 2 months
We can't wait for more play dates as the kids get bigger.

2 months old!!!
Today Reef had his 2 month well baby check up. We were pleased with the results. Reef has grown 4 1/2 inches and 5 1/4 lbs in 2 months, putting him in the 95% for height at 24 1/2 inches, and 75% for weight at 12 lbs 13 oz. His head is also measuring in at a nice 16 in. which is in the 50-75%, otherwise, pretty average. My how the time flies! Dr. Brabec was amazed at how strong he is at holding his head up and rolling over. Reef was talkative at the appointment and made both Dr. B and I laugh.
We have chosen to delay his immunizations for now as we are doing more research on it. Jared was not immunized at all and I was fully immunized and we have both been healthy human beings. (I don't count my knee surgeries, I chalk that up to clumsiness!) We'll see what we end up doing, but for now, Reef is needle and live culture free.

Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, swimming, swimming...
mommy, daddy, & Reef swimming
We went up to Omaha this weekend for the State Chiropractors Convention and had a blast staying with grammy and grampy Rohrs at the Embassy Suites. We came on Friday night, enjoyed the free cocktails and then headed to Kona Grill for some sushi and dinner. We got grampy Rick to try sushi for the first time (and last, if he has anything to do with it) and enjoyed a great meal and saki bombs! We got home (to the hotel) around 10pm and Reef was WIDE awake. Very unusual for him. He decided he wanted to play until 11 before drifting off to la la land. The only plus was that I knew he was going to sleep until about 6 am because he's been consistently sleeping 7-8 hours at a stretch!
Reef after swimming
Laura Retig babysat Reef when grammy Cyndi and I enjoyed a breakfast for the wives (don't ask me how I got to go!) at the Magnolia hotel downtown. By the way, it is beautiful down there! When we got back we went over to Cabella's and walked around and had some bison burgers. Not quite as good as Ted's NE grill buffalo, but still pretty darn good. When we got back we decided to go swimming. We weren't sure how Reef would react, but he loves his baths, so we thought we'd give it a whirl. He absolutely loved it! He was so calm and peaceful as Jared and I walked him around the pool and dipped his toes in the hot tub.
Lindsay and Reef
After happy hour on Saturday we went to our friend Lindsay Wittstruck's new house and enjoyed time with she and her fiance. We can't wait for their wedding in October!!!
Overall, it was a great trip to Omaha !!!

Reef's first playdate
Since Reef will be 8 weeks old tomorrow, I thought it was time for his first play date. We were supposed to get together with Jenn, Jackson, and Joseph last week, but Reef having the sniffles held us back as we didn't want to contaminate baby Joey. We went over to Steph & Verne's (Matt) house to play with their 5 month old Crew. The boys had a blast rolling over and talking to each other. Reef can only roll from his front to his back and Crew can only do the opposite, so they were trying to teach each other what they knew! They both took naps at the same time so us mommies could have some adult time! We had a great time and can't wait to do it again.
Crew playing in his bouncer!
Crew (5 months) and Reef (2 months) hanging out on a blanket. Doesn't it look like Reef is trying to put his arm around his new friend? What a guy!!! :)

Exersaucer!!!
We finally decided to try out the exersaucer today because Reef is holding his head up pretty well. I still took precautions by putting a blanket behind his head and one around his belly to hold him in their tighter! He seemed to enjoy it for the brief time he was in it. You can really see his wild hair in this picture and we just had a bath. I'm sure next time we try it out it will be even more enjoyable.

Reef Alan Rohrs
Just a few minutes old...our first family portrait!
All tuckered out after a busy day of being born!
07.03.08 - 2 weeks
Weighing 10 lb 8 oz, 22 1/2 in.6 weeks: 07.31.08 - approx. 11 lbs and 23 in (didn't get in to weigh and measure)
Here he is. At 7 1/2 weeks he can roll from his tummy to his back (he's been doing it for about 4 weeks now, not consistently though), hold his head up really well (still not super consistent), and sleep through the night (5-9 hours at a time)!
My first time...
So, I'm new to this blogging, but I thought since a few friends have started, I might as well try it out. Jared and I have been married for 3 years now (since 07.13.05) and we just had a baby boy, Reef Alan Rohrs on 06.19.08. He is an extremely busy boy and is always moving. He has been a good baby so far and is sleeping between 5-9 hours at a time at night! We have been blessed! I'm going to keep it short until I figure it all out. Until next time.
