Happy Retirement Grampy!

So we TOTALLY surprised Rick at the clinic and were his last patients. Jared, Reef, Cyndi, Uncle Ken, Aunt Di and I were all in exam room 1 waiting with a cold beverage to usher him out from his last day working. IT was hilarious trying to keep quiet with 5 adults and a baby who were all excited. We thought for sure we were going to be exposed when someone (I won't mention any names) tooted while trying to keep the baby quiet. Rick was right outside the door when this happened and we contained our laughter pretty well. Rick was pleasantly surprised to see all of us and gladly accepted the cold beverage (read: beer!) Jared, Ken and I all got adjusted and we piled into the cars to head to Mulligan's where the rest of the crowd was waiting.

The crowd at Mulligan's was great and we even had two special surprise guests all the way from Illinois! After the party at Mulligan's we headed over to Lazlo's for a late dinner. Unca Joe, Auntie Ivy, Jared and I had to sit at the "Kids" table as they only had a table for 10 and there were 10 "adults"! That was alright as Joe and Ivy enjoyed spending time with Reef and us as well. It was a great evening enjoyed by all.

Happy Halloween!

So today was a VERY busy day as we had plenty to do. First, we needed a bath because it was bath day AND we had a humongous blow out in the morning! Next, we had to dress in our Halloween OUTFIT so we could go see Katie Freeman's costume and hang out with grammy. Then, we met grampy for lunch at Braeda for his last work day lunch. He didn't know we would be surprising him at work later that day and then having a surprise retirement party also! We then hung out at Grammys until it was time to go surprise grampy at work.

We had to buy a new Halloween costume because the hand me downs from Scoie and Cooper were TOO small. They were a size 3-6 mos and we bought the cute penguin costume in a 6-12 mos!

First trip to the park

After the mall we headed to the park at 66th & Vine since it's so close. The girls were getting restless after lunch so we decided since it's such a nice day we should take advantage of it. It was so nice to sit outside and talk and get some fresh air. We started out swinging and Reef had a blast. He really can't do anything else yet, so it was fun to watch the other kids play.

Girls Day Out...

Reef and I headed to the mall again today to meet up with 3 of my friends from college. Breanna (36 weeks prego w/ twin boys)& her 3 1/2 year old daughter, Ella; Alisha & her 2 1/2 year old daughter, Addison; Jody (21 weeks prego with her first baby, a girl) and Me & Reef. It was a good time catching up and strolling around the mall with the girls & Reef. I found a pair of jeans that fit and look good while I'm still in the transition stage. We found Breanna a Halloween "costume", a shirt from Steve & Barry's that says Beer Belly on Board and points down! And of course we had to stop at The Children's place to get some cute clothes for the kids. I got Reef's 6 month/Christmas picture outfit.

Star Sighting

So Reef and I went shopping with Breanna and Ella today and who do we see while eating lunch but Blue October front man, Justin Furstenfeld, his wife Lisa, and daughter Blue. I was too giddy to actually go up to him and talk, but I couldn't help but stare. I'm pretty sure he knew I recognized him as I couldn't stop looking at him. It looked as if he was pretty comfortable with not getting attacked with fans at the "small town" mall in Nebraska. I have been a fan of Blue October for about 10 years now, so I know some info about him. The first concert Jared and I went to together (was the night we met as well) was a Blue October concert. I'm not sure if he was playing a concert around here ( I'm pretty sure they're not, as I probably would've known) or just in town b/c his wife is from here. Anywho, it was a nice upset to a normal day!

NOT SO FUN!

NOT SO FUN... I woke up at 2:45 am to pray to the porcelin god. Not sure what is going on, maybe a touch of food poisoning? Maybe my stomach/intestinal issues from Wednesday still haven't been resolved. We were planning on going to First Lutheran this morning (we're finally getting back on track with the church finding) but I wasn't feeling up to ANYTHING. My wonderful husband took care of Reef while I got some sleep (almost until noon, with one feeding interruption!!) So far, the rest of the day has proved to be pretty normal. Hopefully everything is fine, although I think Reef may have picked up something as he is coughing and not sleeping well this evening.

Go Huskers/ Reef's first babysitter

We had 4 tickets to the football game today so that meant that Cyndi and I were going to go (weather permitting!) and cheer on the 'Skers. It was a GORGEOUS morning and afternoon so we were able to enjoy a morning of tailgating with egg casserole, bacon, sausage, sticky buns, screwdrivers, bloody mary's and BUD LIGHT! Good breakfast, right?

First we had to drop Reef off at his first young babysitters (that wasn't a granny or grampy, or older cousin Jen Becwar) cousin Rachel Freeman. They had a good time hanging out with Letti, Katie and some of Letti's family. He was a good boy (as always) and we will be calling again!

Cyndi and I only stayed for the first half as I just am not ready to be away from my boy for long periods of time, especially since he's teething and sometimes cranky! We had to first swing by my friend Breanna's to get my cell phone that I forgot on Friday night! oops. Then we picked Reef up and headed back to the Rohrs'. Grammy, Reef and I had a fun afternoon hanging out, then Jared and Rick got back and we had even more fun. We ate some Skeeter Barnes ( yum, yum!) and watched some more football.

4 month checkup

So Reef had his 4 month check up today and had a great time waiting for Dr. Brabec! He played on the exam table and chewed on his dog and looked in the mirror. Too bad Grammy and I didn't have THAT much fun waiting! :) Anyway, Reef is 26 inches tall (90%) and weighs 15 lb 8 oz (75%) and his brain is growing nicely 16 1/4 in (50%). I was VERY close in my guesses, I guess a mommy just knows! Dr. B told us he's progressing great and we are going to hold off on starting solids until he's 6 months old, which will be right around Christmas. What a Christmas treat to eat some cereal! :)

On another note, what I thought were tooth buds were just some plugged gum pores (silly me!) but Dr. B assured me that many new parents confuse them, also his front bottom teeth are getting ready to come through. I knew he was teething, just not which teeth were coming!!! More update on the teeth as it gets closer to poke time!

Happy 4 months!

Reef is 4 months old on this GORGEOUS Sunday. We had a rough night as we're teething pretty bad right now. I can see a little tooth bud on his upper and lower gum's, both left incisors, almost ready to pop through. I am SOOOOO not ready for teeth! We went for a walk today and had a pretty lazy afternoon. We go and see Dr. Brabec on Wednesday morning for our well baby checkup so we will post our new stats then. I have a feeling he's in the 16 pound range and around 26 inches tall. We'll see if I'm right! Only 1 more week of work then I get a whole week with my boy (LPS has fall break.) It's been awhile since we've got to have a whole day to ourselves and I miss it! :(

Unca Joe's bday/ Husker game!!!

We went straight from Crete to Joe & Ivy's for a combo bday/Husker game. Joe turned 28 on this fine Husker Saturday and it couldn't have gotten any better with the win! We had so much food and fun with friends and Joe & Ivy's families from 11:30 in the morning till 11 at night! Steph and I stole an hour and went to the Take 2 consignment 1/2 price day and found some bargains. Reef's Husker wear was from the consignment sale when we went on Thursday. A Husker onesie, sweat pants and bib all for $6!!! What a deal. Auntie Lindsey had fun playing with Reef and Crew. We had them giggling and bouncing with each other.

I tried to get some action shots of the boys and since Crew is mobile now, he was always coming for the camera. I also had to get a picture of Reef's Husker bum! :) Reef turns 4 months old tomorrow and Crew was 7 months on the 13th.

Grandpa Doug's 53rd bday

Enzo, Reef and Grandpa Doug (yes he has a chew in)

We went down to Crete tonight for my dad's 53rd bday. We enjoyed delicious brats on the grill and all the fixin's. Grandma Ruth brought a scruptious pie for dessert and we all enjoyed a night with the family. We spent the night because we were so far away from home (hehehe) and wanted to let Reef sleep without being moved. We also both wanted to enjoy some adult beverages (me: wine with mom, Jared: Bud Light Lime) and great conversation with Grandma Ruth, Grandpa Leon, Kurt, Deb and of course mom and dad. Everyone always enjoys time with Reef and Enzo (the grandkid and granddog!)

Grandma Dawn (mom) giving Reef raspberries on his belly in the morning.

Growing out of our jammies

And YES, his jammies are a little small. I just am trying to get the last wearings (is that a word?) out of his 3-6 month jammies before we break out all the 6 month and 6-9 month jammers.

Tummy sleeping

So the past couple of nights every time Reef has woken up it has been because he's rolled over onto his tummy. I was wondering if he would EVER roll over and stay sleeping on his tummy because it would be A LOT easier for ME if he could put himself back to sleep on his tummy or roll back onto his back. Tonight proved to be the night for learning. I decided to let him whine it out when he rolled onto his tummy right after I laid him down. The first time he woke back up and didn't want to go back to sleep so we rocked and read a few more stories. The next time I tried it he rolled over after a few minutes of squirming and fell back asleep on his tummy. It was pretty cute. I'm now wondering what it's going to be like when he wakes up from this position because there is not much room for him to roll onto his back ( he seems to always roll to his left, maybe it's just another sign of left-handedness. Sorry, dad!) It should be interesting. I can't wait!!! :)

Lindsay's Wedding

So today was the day for Lindsay Wittstruck and Patrick Eisenmenger's wedding. My day started off rather sleepily because now that Reef knows how to turn from his back to his tummy, he does it in his sleep and gets mad. I had to flip him back over about 4 times last night. He only ate 2 times, but I woke up nearly every hour! Cyndi picked Reef and I up around 8:30 as we had to run to Wal Mart to get some champagne to sip while we got our updo's. We were at Utopia salon from 9-11:15 getting our hair did (hehehe) and then off to The Salad Co. for lunch. It was DELICIOUS.

After a quick pump session in the van, we headed to the church to get ready. We lounged around the church after getting ready and then had pictures. Again, more lounging and then the main event...The wedding. It was perfect. The whole church was teary-eyed through the songs and vows and then cheering as they were pronounced man and wife!
The limo was so much fun as we went through numerous bottles of champagne and cases of beer. We all bonded and had some outdoor (and very windy) pictures at Pioneer Park.

On to the reception at the Holiday Inn downtown. It was crowded, but nice. We ate, drank, and danced the night away. My folks were nice enough to get a room so Reef could go to bed (and grandma watched him) and we could still party. It was a fun evening. I just love weddings!

Walks around Holmes Lake

This afternoon Reef and I were able to go on another walk with Erica & Claire around Holmes Lake. It was a gorgeous day and we had to take advantage of it. I worked a half day this morning at Irving and had a good time. Cyndi, Reef and I ate at the Olive Garden (soup, salad, & breadsticks...OH MY!!) then went to check out the new Kohl's. We both had some coupons to use and I needed to get some more picture frames for Reef's 3 month pictures. We got back home and wanted to go on a walk. Normally we'd just walk around the 'hood, but we thought we'd check and see if our friends wanted to get some exercise too and it worked out perfectly. Unfortunately we haven't taken any pictures of our walks, but next time we will! Last time both babies fell asleep, this time they had both taken naps (Claire: long nap, Reef: cat nap) before the walk and just enjoyed the fresh air and scenery. We had some good mommy talk, as always, and can't wait for the next play date.

Unca Joe & Auntie Ivy's house

We went over to Unca Joe & Auntie Ivy's house today to help them get a few things in order and to watch the game (Jared went downtown with Rick for the game after helping early afternoon.) We had a lovely time chillin' in their house and eating some yummy food. We had a meat platter (steak, wild turkey, pork chops & pulled pork), acorn squash (yum, yum!!), homemade jalapeno poppers (spicy!), and some potato salad. WE were stuffed. There was also some cherry cheesecake for dessert. We ended up talking and playing with Reef more than getting things organized, but everything will fall into place. Again, no pictures, even though the camera was sitting on a chair in the living room. Next time, I swear. I started out taking a zillion pics a day and now I get so busy, I forget.

Grammy Cyndi's garage sale

Grammy had a garage sale today and is going to be open again tomorrow and Reef and I got to hang out for a bit. My phone took a dive and isn't working properly so since I didn't have to work, I decided to head to good ol' Sprint. I knew it would take awhile, so I dropped Reef off at the sale. Cindy Timperley was on hand to help with the sale and Reef, so I knew it would be easier for them. Kate Finn was also there selling some discontinued Premier jewelry. It took nearly 1 1/2 hours at the Sprint store to get my phone switched to Jared's old phone and it still wasn't fixed. How do you like that! I'm going to have to go back, or we're going to have to break down and get a new phone.

Once I got done with phone issues it was back to grammy's house to stroll around the neighborhood with Erica and Claire. We found some pretty good deals on baby clothes and a few odds and ends. The best find was a jumperoo for Reef. This wasn't in Cyndi's neighborhood, but a friend tipped me off on it. Reef hasn't quite figured the jumping part, but he's enjoying the activities.

Here's a great picture of Reef and Claire hanging out in the pack 'n' play.

TOES!

Reef has recently "found" his toes and is constantly grabbing them and holding on for dear life~ He's been watching them for the past week or so, but can finally grasp them. Here he is this morning and afternoon playing with them! I have found him in his crib the past two mornings with one sock on, one sock off, so he seems to enjoy trying to get his socks off too!

It is so funny watching him swing his legs around trying to get at his feet. I can't wait until he tries to eat his toes!
