Saturday Night at the Prochnow's

Once or twice a month we get together at Pat and Breanna's and have a good time. They have a pretty big house and now that they have 3 kids, it's alot easier for them to have people over versus packing up their clan and heading somewhere else. They boys enjoyed watching football while the girls played some games and chatted.

Black Friday

No, I didn't get up early....well, technically I did, but not because of shopping. Reef had a rough night last night and decided to get up 3 times, so I could've ran to Wal Mart at 4 am to see what kind of door buster deals they had for me, but I decided to go back to bed once I got Reef back to sleep.

We headed up to Lincoln to stop at Toys 'R' Us before going to Dan and Courtney's for the CU v. NU game. They had guitar hero when we got there at 12:30 and Jared found a game for himself as well. Now we only have Reef's money to spend. Hmmm....what does a nearly 6 month old really NEED? NOTHING! :) We'll find something that he'll enjoy!

We had a good time at Dan and Courtney's eating a Fried turkey, scalloped potatoes, cranberry salad, cheesecake and pumpkin pie! The game was really good too. Jason, Emily & Ethan, Dan, Courtney & Renae, Joe & Ivy, Caitlyn and us enjoyed getting together and I think it will become a tradition as Dan has gotten us together the past couple years doing this!

Happy Thanksgiving!

WE had much to be thankful for this year. We have a healthy 5 month old, our living grandparents are in decent health, our parents are healthy (with our dad's getting healthier by the day) and we are doing great as well. God has been good to us.

We went to Crete last night to go to church with mom and dad and then have some family time with them and my brother and sister-in-law. We had a good time and Reef decided he would stay up until nearly 10 pm!

We got up on Thanksgiving morning and enjoyed each others company again, mainly watching Ica and Enzo chase each other and playing with Reef. The family started coming around 11:30 and soon we had a houseful. Mom & Dad, Grandma Ruth & Grandpa Leon, Grandma Dee, Uncle Mark, Rick & Cyndi, Jen, Matt, Scoie & Cooper, Jarod & Stacey, Jared, Reef and I all enjoyed TOO much food and a good time. It's always nice to get together and spend time with your family.

As with tradition, Grandma Ruth and Grandpa Leon gave us our Christmas money to spend and we share with them what we bought ourselves on Christmas. Reef enjoyed playing with his money! I know exactly what I'm spending my money on! Guitar Hero!!! My first video game that I will purchase, EVER. It's on sale numerous places tomorrow...the dreaded Black Friday. I'm not into getting up at the butt crack of dawn to shop, but I'll go around noon and see what is still available. We shall see what deals we can get tomorrow.

Deer Heads and HuHot

We headed over to Joe and Ivy's this afternoon to spend some time together and for Jared to cut off the antlers of his deer (that had been in Joe & Ivy's backyard for a week.) Of course chopping the antlers didn't take long so we got to chat and decide what we were doing for dinner. They had some gift cards so we chose from them. HuHot it was. I hadn't been there for long and I hadn't eaten much today so I figured it would be a great mix. We also invited Jeff, Kristy & Faith as they were the ones who gave Joe & Ivy the gift card.

While we were at HuHot Ivy and I ran into many people we knew. Ivy saw a bunch of swimmers past and present while I saw my friend Becky (Bohuslavsky) Benedict and her family and my former employer Dawn Robinson and her family. It was good to see them both as it'd been awhile. They couldn't believe how big Reef was getting and their kids had grown as well.

Pictures from Nikki's Bachelorette

A VERY busy Saturday

Today was very busy. We had great grandma Rohrs' 84th bday party, Christmas shopping, and a bachelorette party.

First off, Jared's dad's side of the family met at The Upstream for lunch in honor of Grandma Glennie's 84th bday. We had a good time with food, family and CHOCOLATE CAKE!!! yum, yum. After lunch was over, Jared, Reef, Rick and Cyndi headed back to Lincoln to spend the afternoon/evening watching football and spending some time together while I stayed in Omaha to do some Christmas shopping (I didn't get much accomplished), eat supper with Lindsay and then head to Nikki's for her bachelorette party.

I had planned on coming back to Lincoln when the girls were heading out to the bars, but Reef was fast asleep at Grammy and Grampy's and Jared assured me that the 3 of them could handle it and for me to have a good time. I ended up having a pretty good time at the Piano Bar with the bachelorette party and spent the night at Lindsay's.

It was a long, but fun day.

Date Night

Tonight Jared and I got to go on an actual date! It started out just being him and I, but Karli called us right as Jared was getting home and told us she didn't end up having to work, so we told her we could probably meet up for drinks later. We went to Lazlo's to eat before the 7:30 movie that we THOUGHT we would go to, but dinner ran late and we ended up going to the 9:50 movie. We had a few drinks with Karli, Zach, and a couple others before finally getting to the movie, James Bond Quantum of Solace. It was kind of a disappointment. I really liked the last James Bond flick Casino Royale so I was pumped to see this and it wasn't as action packed as the last. Maybe it was the fact that I had a few cocktails before going or maybe it was that I was a little tired (I admit, I did doze off for a little bit!) but it was NOT my favorite. Since the movie got out around midnight Reef had his second overnight at grammy and grampy Rohrs'. Overall, it was a great night!

5 months old

Reef is 5 months old today! Yeah! I worked a half day at Rousseau while he went to Grammy Daycare. Here is a video of Reef celebrating that he's 5 months old! He LOVES his Jumperoo.

Reef is right under 17 lbs and around 27 in. tall! Such a BIG boy.

The Twins!!!

Oscar and Max Prochnow (4 days old)

Today Reef and I were busy. It was my day off (since Rick and Cyndi get back today, I was still without a babysitter so I took a day to myself.) and I wanted to get lots done. For starters I took a shower! Amazing, I know. Then Reef and I navigated our way to Wal Mart to go grocery shopping. Pine Lake is now closed from 84th to 95th so our "normal" routes to Wally world were closed. When we got home Reef played in his jumperoo while I made a lasagne and banana muffins to take over to Breanna and Pats.

After that we were going to run some errands, but I had to check on my car first. It still was getting worked on so I needed to get a rental. That took about 45 minutes out of our day while they came and picked us up and then we got settled into the Ford Explorer.

Then on to Breannas. The boys were just perfect. They slept the entire time we were there, but Reef was showing off! Reef looks HUGE compared to the tiny twins. Oscar was weighing in at 6 lbs 5 oz and Max was 5 lbs 4 oz when they left the hospital at about 1:30. From the picture it looks like Max is bigger, but he just has a squishier face and Oscar's face is longer.

Here is a picture of Reef with his new hat that Breanna is letting us borrow for the winter because there is NO WAY it could fit on her boys' heads! I call this picture "a hunting tribute." Check out the shoes and onesie. SO grown up!

Reef playing the piano

So mom was keeping Reef occupied by letting him hit some notes on the piano at their house and she thought that the demo mode would strike his interest. Dad and I thought it was pretty darn cute, so I took a little video of it on my camera!

A gorgeous Sunday

Today was also busy. First we went to mom and dad's church. Mom played in all 3 services (she's in the bell choir and adult choir) Dad and I went to the second because he is also in the adult choir and they sang in that one. When we got home we ate lunch and relaxed with some naps and newpaper reading. It was so nice out (52 degrees) Dad and I decided to go hit a few balls on the golf course. We ended up playing 6 holes of golf before it got too windy and chilly. Mom and Reef stayed home and played.

After we left Crete Reef, Enzo and I headed over to Ivy's house to hang out and watch a movie. Since our boys are still out hunting, we decided to hang out and keep each other company, her sister Gina also joined us. We watched the movie "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and it was SOOOOO Funny!

Here is Reef doing his favorite tummy time trick, what we like to call: Skydiving!

Here is just a cute one of Reef and his favorite blanky.

Reef and Enzo

Here are new best friends Reef and Enzo interacting. As you can see, Reef is DEFINITELY into this friendship more than Enzo! I like to look at Enzo's reaction to Reef touching him.

Baby food

Mom and I tried our hand at making some babyfood for Reef since it's about a month until he can start solids. We got some carrots, sweet potatoes and butternut squash to start out with. It was so fun cooking, pureeing and then freezing the food because I know that it's a lot cheaper and healthier ( and REALLY easy) to make your own. We ended up freezing them in mini muffin pans because each muffin cup is 1 oz. Also, we didn't have any ice cube trays! After we froze them in the mini muffin tins we vaccumed them in freezer bags so they will last nice and long and keep well. I can't wait to make more! This will be my new Saturday project for the next couple weekends!

Bath time and play time

This morning mom and I gave Reef a bath in their sink and he had a blast. It was his first sink bath and he loved playing in the water and feeling the water come out of the faucet. Usually I give Reef a bath by myself so I have no one to take pictures, so I finally captured Reef with a soapy mohawk! His hair is so long and fine that it really didn't stick up well, but it's cute nonetheless!

After bath time it was time to get into our Husker gear for the day! We wore a NEW outfit that has a cute hat. When Reef has a hat on he looks like a totally different baby! We caught a smile though.

Then it was time for mommy to get ready, so Reef had some playtime in the Happy Hippo Gym. As you can see he had his guard dog on duty! Enzo is a good watchdog when it comes to Reef and he really doesn't mind Reef playing with him...too much! If Reef starts crying, Enzo jumps up and looks around as if to say, "Hello, the baby is crying. Is anyone going to do anything about it?"

It's so funny to watch Enzo and Reef interacting!

A busy Friday

Today was a very busy day. This morning Jared and I were both packing: I am going to Crete for the weekend while Jared goes to Gothenburg to go hunting. I substituted at Pershing from 11:30 - 3:15 with 4th graders.

Then on to Bryan LGH hospital to see Breanna and Pat's new babies, Max and Oscar. Oscar Dean Prochnow was born at 1:02 pm via C-section and weighed 6 lbs 13 oz and was 19 1/2 in. tall. Maxwell Thomas Prochnow was born at 1:03 pm via C-section and weighed 5 lbs 11 oz and was 19 in tall. They are not identical twins, but look similar. Very cute! Of course I packed my camera for the weekend, but it was in the bag that mom took to Crete with her! I will have pictures of the boys soon. It was sooo cool finally meeting them.

After the visit to the hospital (I also met Alisha there so we could visit Breanna together) it was off to Crete. Grandma and Grandpa Mundt were at mom and dad's house when I got there as they had to see their great grandson! We had a good time chatting together. Tomorrow awaits a football game and lots of activities!

A better week

This week was much better for jobs. I didn't work Monday, I worked a half day Tuesday at Belmont while Breanna watched Reef (Rick and Cyndi are in Florida), I worked a full day Wednesday at Calvert while cousin Jen watched Reef, and worked a full day at Culler today while granny Mundt watched Reef. Tomorrow I have a half day scheduled at Pershing and granny Mundt is going to watch Reef again. Actually she's going to kidnap him and take him down to Crete with her and I will go and meet them after I get off work and stay the whole weekend because Jared is going hunting in Gothenburg with Unca Joe this weekend. He's going to go bag us a deer so we can have lots of deer jerky and deer summer sausage!!! Yeah!

As for the jobs, it was my first time subbing at Calvert and I had a GREAT 5th grade class there. It will also be my first time at Pershing tomorrow, so I'm looking forward to seeing what the atmosphere is like there with 4th graders tomorrow. I'm also looking forward to seeing my friend Breanna's twins tomorrow as she has a C-section at noon. I just love new babies (but I wouldn't trade my boy for ANYTHING in the world!) I can't wait to see what they look like and hold them. Plus, I get to see the new Bryan maternity ward. You will definitely see pictures in later blogs about Breanna's (and Pat's!) twin boys.

Here is a picture from last week of Reef in his Formula 1 sweats. Grammy Cyndi bought these for him because Jared LOVES Formula 1 racing....can you say Ferrari???? Anywho, I just had to have a picture and I didn't have any from today.

Sleeping....

It seems as though every time I go into Reef's room to check on him he is sleeping a different way. This was DEFINITELY the cutest position yet with his little bum in the air. I never know where he's going to be in his crib because he's such a mover and a shaker. one time he's in the corner on his belly, next he's on his side by the bumper, then he's in the middle all stretched out. It's so cute to see him sleeping. They seem so comfortable and have NO WORRIES! Lately if he wakes up he'll play with the little mirror on the side of his crib or he'll try to "grab" the sea creatures on his bumper or sheets. Oh to be a baby again!

Hanging with mommy

This week wasn't very good for getting sub jobs. I worked 2 - 1/2 days (1/2 monday and 1/2 thursday) this week. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE spending time with Reef, but it won't reflect well on the pocketbook. I hadn't taken very many pictures of Reef lately, so I figured I'd pose him a little this week. These pictures were from Wednesday and Today! We took a 2 1/2 hour nap this morning and then walked around a little at Kohl's with grammy so mommy could get a little exercise!

Visiting Fremont

After voting today we (Rick, Cyndi, Reef and I) headed to Fremont to visit great great g'ma Dorothy and great aunt Teri. We had to have lunch at Gambino's pizza, of course and Reef sat in his first restaurant high chair. Driving around Fremont was a good time and we got to see great grandma Rohrs' old house and great uncle Ron's old house out on Lake Ventura. Rick and Cyndi said they couldn't believe the difference in Ron's house that the new owners had made. I couldn't go in because I had to feed the little man. We then visited great aunt Teri at her house and met her boyfriend, too. Teri just had a hysterectomy so she's on a 6 week "vacation" of recovery. On the way back to Lincoln we had a late afternoon treat of Zesto's ice cream...Reef will enjoy that later! What a great afternoon (with the exception that I didn't get a job today!)

VOTE 2008

So we all (should've) headed to the polls today to make the great decision of whom our next president is going to be. I'm not going to discuss my voting opinions here because I really don't wish to discuss them nor do I care what your opinions are either. As I saw on the news this morning, it's just not good to discuss politics with family! Anywho, Reef looked adorable wearing the "I voted today" sticker so we had to capture the memory. Only 18 short years until he can make his own decision on who should rule the free world (hopefully it's still free by then!)

Gators at the Lake

We headed out to Horseshoe Lake where Ken and Di keep their camper and have a cute little refuge from the city. We ate at Big Red Keno with Rick, Cyndi, Denny & Audrey (the Illinois guests!) and then headed out to the lake to watch the Gators kick some Bulldog butt! It was a gorgeous afternoon and we enjoyed some retirement cake and snackies along with some cold ones during the game. I finally dressed Reef in some Gator gear because Jared has asked me to, and I thought he looked pretty cute in the orange and blue, although he looks WAY better in red and white!

After the game we headed back into town to watch the Huskers try to beat Oklahoma and of course I forgot my camera at the lake and didn't get to take a picture of Reef's husker outfit. I had to change his clothes to watch this game of course! Steph and Art brought over a smoked turkey that we had for supper and we had a good time hanging out and eating more retirement cake during the game. It was a great day to spend outside.
